Individual Support
I tend toward a non-pathologizing model of working together, meaning I don't view your experience as occurring because of something 'wrong with you', rather as a systemic issue that results from a variety of factors that likely include some form of misattunement or missed experience along your way developmentally, as well as effects from the larger life systems you live within, including the biological, relational, familial, social, financial, racial, political, environmental, cultural, and so on.
We will work to empower you to practice and grow your awareness and find agency to influence change in your life as able. When we are working with systems that are not immediately changeable, we will work with increasing your capacity for regulation, grief, tolerating vulnerability, and activism.
My approach can be effective in addressing issues related to climate and existential crises, coping skills, nervous system regulation, developmental/relational/attachment traumas, life transitions, anxiety, panic, depression, grief, relationships, peers, belonging, school, work, PTSD, complex PTSD, integration of peak experiences and more.
We can work together, one-on-one, in the following ways . . .
Psychotherapy
This way of working together is for you if you're seeking licensed, recurrent, ongoing support to be with your experience. Typically we will meet weekly, though we can also meet more frequently (up to two to three times per week if desired for intensive EMDR or trauma work) or less frequently (every two weeks or once monthly). Oftentimes, you'll find your frequency can reduce to "as needed" as you gain the capacity to be with your experience and work toward your goals.
I offer a brief 5-10 minute phone call to assess our initial fit, followed by a full paid session to mutually assess our sense of whether we're the best match for your desired outcomes for ongoing work together.
Together we will develop a plan of care that addresses your therapeutic goals, incorporating one or a blend of the modalities I am trained to offer, including NeuroAffective Touch, Gestalt Practice, EMDR, Natural Processing, Open Floor Therapy-in Motion (click links for more info on each), as well as elements of art, nature, ritual, home practice, group process, and more.
Please note that if we work together in this way ('psychotherapy' under my LCSW license), our work will be governed by the rules, regulations, laws and ethics set forth by my licensing board, the Board of Behavioral Sciences. As such, I am unable to provide Craniosacral Therapy to you if you are my "psychotherapy" client, as, per the BBS, this would constitute a dual relationship, since my Craniosacral Therapy services are technically held under my massage therapy license.
“Out-of-Network” Insurance Benefits
I am an “Out-of-Network” provider for all major insurance companies. These benefits allow you to seek health care from any qualified, licensed provider. Usually you’ll have a separate deductible for "out-of-network" providers than you would for “in-network” providers, and the general cost to you will be higher.
The ways this works is that you pay at the time of service for the session, and I provide you with a receipt or “superbill”, which you then submit (possibly along with their required form) directly to your insurance company for reimbursement to you after meeting their deductible. Be sure to check with your provider to get the info on this possible benefit straight from them. You could ask your insurance, "do I have out-of-network behavioral health benefits, a deductible or co-pay?"
*Also, please note that there are limits to your confidentiality when working through insurance providers, as I am required to share information on diagnoses and as they request, submit information on your treatment plan and content of our sessions. For this reason, clients sometimes choose not to go through their insurance for counseling.
HSA (Health Savings Accounts)
You may use your HSA checks and/or debit (Visa/MC) card as immediate payment for psychotherapy services. Again, you would submit the receipt or superbill that we give you to your HSA plan for direct reimbursement to you. Using your HSA account can be a great way to obtain the therapies you want, with a therapist of your own choice, with money you have set aside pre-tax.
Private Pay
Most of my clients pay for their services privately, choosing not to involve insurance companies in their care. Some clients find that paying for services themselves is a simpler, more personal process to manage while giving them complete control over how their information is shared with third parties. As an individualized private practice, I feel I am better able to devote my time to my clients and their care. I trust you will notice the difference with the quality and effectiveness of our work together. I am committed to providing all of my clients with the highest level privacy and quality, innovative, holistic therapeutic care.
Good Faith Estimate
Under the "No Surprises Act" that was passed January 1, 2022, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Craniosacral Therapy & SomatoEmotional Release
These sessions are for you if you are looking for a single or multiple sessions with a focus on entering the work together via your craniosacral system. You will remain clothed and lie on your back for the treatment. Light craniosacral touch, attunement and holding will provide the opportunity for the unwinding of physical, emotional, and psychological constrictions, sometimes resulting in SomatoEmotional Release of energy cysts that are often involved when people are dealing with physical, mental and emotional trauma.
Please note that if I work with you in this modality, I am unable to transition to working with you in a 'psychotherapeutic' manner under the purview of my professional LCSW license. I would, however, be able to transition to working with you as a counselor or coach, if desired.
More info on this modality can be found here.
Consultation
I offer one-time, intermittent, or ongoing consultation to people who are curious about expanding their life or practices to include supporting others along their life journey. Sometimes this looks like sharing your path and getting my insights about possible next steps or resources for your journey. Othertimes this looks like getting my insights about practices you can incorporate to help you with compassion fatigue or reinforcing professional boundaries.
I am not currently offering clinical supervision for LCSW licensees looking to obtain their hours for BBS licensure.
Peer Reflection, Counseling & Coaching
These sessions are for individuals seeking one-time, ongoing or intermittent support but prefer to work together in a more peer-based model than traditional psychotherapy allows for. These sessions are largely guided by my training and experiences in Gestalt Practice, Open Floor, Hendricks Institute, Archetypal Astrology, Grof Studies, breathwork studies and other influences.
This work together is not governed by my LCSW license, and as such, does not include traditional EMDR, as that modality is currently only available for licensed therapists to learn. I can however support you in incorporating bilateral stimulation as part of your inquiries.
Under this category of support, I am also available to sit in support, connection, reflection and integration with you in your medicine journey work. Currently this support is limited to cannabis sessions or other medicines as deemed lawful per your involvement in a participating church with such jurisdiction.
Individual Support Reciprocity/Fees
In exchange for the presence, support, and skills-building I give to you, I receive your payment for services at each session in the form of cash, Venmo, PayPal, check, or bank debit/credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express) or online and autopay through the client portal.
I charge a flat rate for all individual support of $175 per 50 minutes ($280 for 80 minutes, $420 for 120 minutes, and so on). While I appreciate that this amount may be outside what is feasible for many people, I also want to name that my fee is significantly below the going rate of services in my area for therapists with similar advanced training and experience. I am committed to keeping my fees as affordable as I am able for the good of all.
I offer a few sliding scale spots in my practice, based on BIPOC and financial need status. Please inquire if you are in need of this special consideration and I'll let you know if I have any spots currently available.
